Getting started: User guide

Everything you need to go from a new account to creating, tracking, and sharing dynamic QR codes. Takes about 5 minutes.

Quick start

1

Create an account

Go to qr-manager.ai/signup and sign up with your email address or Google account. Check your email for a verification link if you registered with an email and password.

2

Create your first QR code

Click + New QR code in the dashboard. Choose a type:

  • URL — a dynamic link you can change at any time without reprinting.
  • App Store — routes iOS to the App Store and Android to Google Play automatically.
  • Social Links — a branded link-in-bio page with up to 10 links.
  • File / PDF — dynamic link to a file hosted on Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.
  • vCard — contact card with name, phone, and email.
  • WiFi — lets guests connect without typing a password.
  • SMS / Phone — opens a pre-filled message or dialler.
  • Email — opens a compose window with a pre-filled recipient.

Enter a title and the destination value, then click Create.

3

Download and use your QR code

Click on any QR code in the dashboard to open its detail view. Use the Exportbutton at the top of the QR Code preview to download in PNG, SVG, WebP, or JPG. You can also download directly from the dashboard card's Actions menu. Use the file in print materials, presentations, or anywhere you need it.

Tip: Dynamic QR codes (URL, App Store, Social Links, File) can have their destination changed at any time from the detail view — the printed QR code never changes.
4

Track scans

Click on any QR code in the dashboard to open its detail page. You'll see:

  • Total scan count (all time)
  • Daily scan timeline (last 30 days) — Pro
  • Device, browser, and OS breakdown — Pro
  • Country, city, region, ISP — Pro
  • Hour-of-day heatmap — Pro

QR code types

qr-manager.ai supports 9 QR code types. Dynamic typesroute through a short link (qr-m.app/<slug>) so you can change the destination, track scans, and add retargeting pixels. Static types encode a fixed value directly into the QR code.

TypeDynamic?Use case
URLYesCampaign links, product pages, landing pages. Change the destination any time.
App StoreYesMobile apps — iOS scans open the App Store, Android opens Google Play automatically.
Social LinksYesA branded link-in-bio page with up to 10 configurable links.
File / PDFYesLinks to a file hosted on Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or any direct URL.
vCardNoBusiness cards, event badges — shares your contact details.
WiFiNoGuest networks — scans open WiFi settings pre-filled with the password.
SMSNoCustomer support or opt-in flows — opens a pre-filled SMS.
PhoneNoClick-to-call — opens the dialler with a number ready.
EmailNoPre-fills a compose window with recipient and optional subject.

Organising with folders

Folders let you group QR codes — by campaign, department, event, or whatever makes sense for you. In organisations with teams, admins can restrict which folders each team can see.

  • Create a folder by clicking New folder in the sidebar.
  • Drag-and-drop QR codes between folders from the dashboard.
  • Folders can be nested — parent access grants access to all child folders.
  • QR codes without a folder are visible to all members of the organisation.
Note: If you're a member of a team with restricted folders, you'll only see QR codes in the folders your team has been assigned. Contact your admin to adjust access.

Reading your analytics

Click any URL QR code in the dashboard to view its analytics. Analytics require a Pro plan.

Daily scan timeline

A 30-day area chart showing scan volume by day. Useful for spotting campaign peaks.

Device breakdown

Pie chart: Mobile, Tablet, Desktop. Most QR scans come from mobile.

Country & city

Where in the world your scans are coming from. City-level requires Pro.

Browser & OS

Which browsers and operating systems your audience uses.

Hour-of-day heatmap

When during the day people scan — helps you schedule campaigns.

ISP / carrier

Useful for identifying operator-specific traffic patterns.

Tip: The Reports page shows combined analytics across all your QR codes — great for campaign-level views and CSV exports.

Securing your account

We strongly recommend enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) on your account, especially if you manage QR codes for a business.

  • Go to Settings → Profile → Two-factor authentication.
  • Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, etc.).
  • Save your backup codes somewhere safe — you'll need them if you lose your phone.
  • After enabling, you'll be prompted for a 6-digit code each time you sign in.
  • Check Remember me on trusted personal devices to skip the 2FA prompt for 30 days.
